Second Chance Animal Rescue Fund Raiser

1st Fund Raiser for SCAR will be a huge yard sale under a tent to be held in the field behind and to the left of Sears on Route 302. Drop offs accepted Saturdays July 24, 31 and August 7 between 9am and 12noon, plus Friday August 13 during set up. Please NO clothing, exercise equipment, electronics or electric gadgets/appliances. Rubber Ducky Regatta

This is one event you won't want to "duck". The Lincoln-Woodstock Chamber of Commerce will host its 14th Annual Labor Day Rubber Ducky Regatta on Monday, Sept. 6 at Cascade Park beginning at 10 a.m.
The Rubber Ducky Regatta is the centerpiece of the event, but is far from the only thing going on. The free festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a magic show and balloon twisting to entertain kids of all ages. Kids can enjoy "ducky" games, face painting, and play in the Bounce House!

Lisbon Farmer's Market

Beginning Saturday, June 129:00 a.m. to Noon, Route 302, North Main Street, Lisbon. The purpose of the market is to encourage local production of food and local business development. To be eligible to take part in the market, vendors must grow their own vegetables or other produce, and craft vendors must make their own art or craft works. Any grower or crafter interested in becoming a vendor may obtain a registration form and the market standards online, or by calling the Lisbon Main Street office, 603-838-2200 or requesting one by email. Information on homestead licensing can be obtained by phone or email.

11th Annual Chocolate & Jazz Fest

Waterville Valley Resort’s 11th Annual Chocolate & Jazz event will be held Saturday, August 7th in the Town Square from 6 to 9p.m. The sounds of jazz will fill the air as guests can indulge in chocolate temptations offered by Town Square merchants. The concerts are free and desserts are to be sold by the piece.

Guests can head over to Jugtown Country Store in Town Square from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for a delightful sampling of wine to be paired with your chocolates. Brought to us by Horizon Beverage Company. All flavors and selections will be announced at tastings.

Waterville Valley Community Luau

Waterville Valley will hold their Community Luau on Thursday, August 19th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Corcoran’s Pond Beach will be transformed into an island oasis for all to attend. The evening’s activities include live music, barbeque, a campfire, s’mores, fruit smoothies, a hula and limbo contest, piñata smashing and more. Activities are free but there is a charge for food and beverages.

Mushroom Walk

The Dells Nature Series 2010 - 10:00 a.m. Meet at the Dells Route 18 parking area. Explore the world of mushrooms and other fungi with local naturalist Steve Sabre. Sponsored by the Littleton Conservation Commission.

End of Summer Bash & Fireworks

Waterville Valley Resort is staging their End of Summer Bash & Fireworks for families on Sunday, September 5 from noon to 9 p.m. The day includes free outdoor concerts, games for all members of the family, and the annual charity Duck Race on Snow’s Brook, with duck proceeds to benefit the New Hampshire Humane Society. Contestants have the chance to win cash prizes if their duck is one of the three fastest, and the final duck across the finish line wins something quacky. The New Hampshire Humane Society will set up a pet station in Town Square with some of their finest adoptable animals.

The day ends with fireworks over Corcoran’s Pond at 8:30 p.m., sponsored by the Town Square Merchants and Atlas Fireworks.

Fall Foliage Festival

There is nothing like fall in New England. Waterville Valley Resort’s Fall Carnival will be full of color on Saturday through Monday, October 9th – 11th.

To complement the brilliant fall foliage, the weekend is set to include family activities for all ages, free outdoor concerts, merchant tent sales, and more. A Black & Blue Trail Smashers Ski swap will be held Saturday. On Sunday, a 5K-road race and 1.6K fun run will be held.

12th Annual Chili Challenge

Waterville Valley Resort’s 12th Annual Chili Challenge will be held from noon until 2 p.m., Saturday October 2nd in Town Square. Waterville Valley area restaurants will have the chance to compete for the title of the best chili around. Visitors will pay a small fee, which gives them access to sample all of the restaurant entries. After sampling all that they want, guests can vote for their favorites. Local restaurants include Six Burner Bistro (2009 winner), Wild Coyote Grill, Olde Waterville Pizza Co, Jugtown Sandwich Shop, Snowy Owl Inn, Diamonds Edge North, and The Common Man.

The weekend will have activities for the whole family including kids carnival rides, crazy balloon twisting and close-up magic, face painting… and prepare to sweat in the hottest chili pepper eating contest! Free outdoor concert accompanies the cook-off in the gazebo.

Wild West Penny Carnival

Waterville Valley’s Wild West Penny Carnival will be held Thursday, August 5th, from 6-8 p.m. Families can join the Recreation Department in Town Square, which will be transformed into a Wild West setting, and the staff into cowboys and cowgirls. Enjoy live music, games, tons of prizes and more. All ages are welcome. Tickets are one for $0.25 or five tickets for $1.00.

Curious George Cottage Family Festival

Curious George and the Man With the Yellow Hat will visit Waterville Valley Resort, NH, August 13-15, 2010 for a weekend of fun for the whole family. The Margret and H.A. Rey Center’s fourth annual Curious George Cottage Family Festival will feature a weekend full of family-friendly activities including a banana pancake breakfast, a family nature walk, a Fireman’s BBQ lunch, photo opportunities with Curious George and the Man With the Yellow Hat, a traveling barnyard, live music, face painting, games for kids, Curious George story hour and movie viewing, planetarium shows, a family spaghetti dinner, and more. While here in Waterville Valley, families can also enjoy swimming and canoeing on Corcoran’s Pond, walks on the many hiking trails in Waterville Valley, and skating at the Waterville Valley Ice Arena among other activities.

The Northern VT/NH Chap. of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) meets the third Thursday of each month at Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury at 6:45 p.m. The NSAI helps songwriters improve songwriting skills, learn the industry, evaluate songs and nextwork on a regular basis. LRH Charitable Foundation 15th Annual Dr. Moose Golf Tournament

Maplewood Country Club, Bethlehem.
